Das NV-CMM-E3S von SMART ist ein non-volatile Memory Module (NVMM) mit integriertem Backup Power und unterstützt den CXL® 2.0 Standard im E3.S 2T Form Factor. Es kombiniert einen CXL x8 Controller, den SMART NV-CXL Controller und 2Rx4 Buffered DDR4 DRAM, wodurch der Host zur Runtime über das CXL x8 Interface auf den DRAM zugreifen kann. Bei einem catastrophic failure versorgt das onboard Energy Source Module (ESM) das Modul weiter mit Strom, sichert die DRAM-Daten in NAND und stellt sie nach Wiederherstellung der Power zurück, um den kontinuierlichen Betrieb zu gewährleisten.
